Lu Xun is the pen name of Mr. Zhou ShuRen. In fact Mr. Zhou also had many other pen names, among which Lu Xun is the most famous.
Lu Xun was influenced by his family a lot since he was little and his whole career direction actually based on his family.
His dad had serious health problems, so he had to shuttle between home and pharmacy. It made him get interest in medicine and pharmacies, Lu Xun left China for Japan in 1904 to study medicine. His original thought was to save more people’s lives (Denton).

Lu Xun said: “Discontent is the gear wheel that moves people upward” (Lu, “Quotes”). One day in Japan, his instructor showed students a lantern slide which documented a Chinese person who was suspected as a Russian spy and killed by Japanese. Other Chinese onlookers just showed complete apathy to what they saw. Lu Xun decided to cure his compatriots’ spiritual illness rather than their physical diseases, so he returned back to China from Japan in 1909 and engaged in writing (MediaWiki). |
